If you need to add Firewire capability to your Laptop and you've got an express card slot (either 54mm or 34mm) then this card is just what you need. Firewire, also referred to as iLink or IEEE1394(a) is the usual way to transfer video from a camcorder to a PC and very few PC's or laptops ship with an on-board Firewire port so for many upgrading with an express card is the only option The card will provide you with 2 X High Speed Firewire 400 Ports to your laptop. The 34mm express card fits the wider 54mm slots as well as a 34mm express card slot. The cards is built around Texa Instruments TI XIO2200 Chipset.
