USB Hubs, Firewire Hubs, Combo Hubs and Internal Hubs... If you're looking to add some additional USB or Firewire Ports to your PC (laptop or desktop) then one of the easiest way to do this is with a "hub". These devices plug into an existing USB or Firewire port on your PC and then given you typically an extra 4 or 7 new ports. All of the 7 Port USB Hubs and many of the 4 Port USB Hubs come with a UK mains Power Supply unit - you only need the power supply if your are using lots of power hungry devices at the same time or if you are using more than 4 of the extra USB ports (hence why the 7 Port versions all come with a power supply unit) A 4 port USB will work quite happily without the power supply (assumes you are using USB Flash disks, card readers, mice keyboards etc) but if you do buy one with a power supply unit you've always got it just in case you need it.
