A USB to IDE Adapter is the missing link between connecting an internal IDE hard drive to a spare USB port. Using the VE225 as an example, you can also easily connect a 5.25" CD/DVD Rom drive or a 2.5" HDD. On the main body of the adapter there are three connector ports, one 44-Pin for 2.5" HDD, a 40-Pin for 3.5" & 5.25" HDD/CD/DVD's and a SATA connector. Our USB to IDE Adapter's are generally combined with a power supply that connects directly to the power port (Molex on 3.5" & 5.25" or SATA power). The Adapters is suitable for the following: 2.5" Laptop Drives - all brands, types (IDE, ATA, PATA and SATA) and sizes. 3.5" Desktop Drives - Works with all brands, including Maxtor, Seagate, IBM, Hitachi, Samsung, Western Digital, etc. 5.25" Drives - The adapter supports all existing IDE/ATAPI devices such as CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM drives and Removable Media drives, such as Iomega Zip.
